Won-Bin Yim
Won-Bin Yim (violin faculty) was born in Korea and educated in the United States at the Peabody Conservatory
(Bachelor of Music), the Juilliard School (Master of Music and Doctorate of Musical Arts), and during summers
at the Aspen Music Festival and School. In addition to his principal teacher, Dorothy DeLay, Mr. Yim has also studied with
Jans Ellerman, Berl Senofsky, Yong-Gu Ahn, Joon-Woo Lee, and Jae-Hyun Lee. He has served as concertmaster of the Wichita
Symphony Orchestra and Reno Philharmonic, and he was first violinist of the Fairmount String Quartet and violinist of the
Argenta Trio. Mr. Yim is currently an associate professor of violin at the College-Conservatory of Music of the University
of Cincinnati, where he received the Glover Award for teaching, and is a faculty member at the Juilliard School pre-college
and an assistant faculty member at the Juilliard School college division. His students have won prizes at national
competitions and some former students are playing in the major symphony orchestras in the United States and abroad and
are also active as violin teachers. Mr. Yim also assists Dorothy DeLay at the Juilliard School and at the Aspen Music
Festival and School. CCM faculty since 1991.
