Accent09
June 14-19, 2009

Accent09 is a chamber music festival offering internationally recognized artist-faculty. In this CCM summer program ensemble activities are supported by daily private lessons, classes and orchestra rehearsals. Ensembles and groups are arranged by level as well as by age.  We welcome pre-formed ensembles. This one-week intensive program is opened by a faculty concert, and showcases its participants with concerts at the end of the week. Daily master classes, and concerto competitions provide further performance opportunities. Accent09 is open to college students, as well as strong high school students with a solid background in either woodwind instruments, brass instruments, stringed instruments, piano, percussions, voice or composition. Crescendo09, the young musicians division of A09, is open to high school and middle school students. Accent09 can be taken for one or two undergraduate credits.

Music 10
June 21- July 2, 2010

Music10 is a unique and intensive new music festival which will take place at the prestigious Hindemith Foundation Music Center in Blonay, Switzerland. The festival welcomes the premiere American ensemble eighth blackbird, which will be joined by principal composers Martin Bresnick, Stephen Hartke, Joel Hoffman, and guest artist Lisa Moore. These renowned artists will be working with an invited group of young composers and instrumentalists. Upon acceptance, composers will be assigned specific ensembles and will write pieces for the festival which will be rehearsed, performed and recorded in Blonay by a variety of ensembles. Each ensemble will consist of a member of eighth blackbird along with a carefully selected group of young instrumentalists. Concurrently, the instrumentalists will prepare and perform works by the three principal composers. This repertoire will be performed in a series of concerts throughout the festival in Blonay and surrounding locations.

Blonay is a beautiful village, located between Lake Geneva (Lac Leman) and the Swiss Alps. Nearby cities are Montreux and Lausanne. The Hindemith Foundation is a fully-equipped music residence center, whose purpose is to present short-term international festivals and workshops on the highest level.

CCM Spoleto
July 12 – August 15, 2010

University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of music is proud to announce an historic partnership with the city of Spoleto, Italy, home of the famous Festival dei due Mondi di Spoleto.  In 2009 CCM took a one-year hiatus from its renowned summer program, Opera Theatre and Music Festival of Lucca, a five-week summer course for singers, instrumentalists and theatre technicians in Lucca, Italy, with a primary focus on opera.  The 2009 hiatus allowed program administrators to assess strengths and identify where enhancements could be made.  During that time, the city of Spoleto expressed an interest in being a new home for the program.  After much deliberation, it was decided that the opportunities were too numerous to refuse, and CCM officially decided to move their program from Lucca to Spoleto with a launch in June of 2010.  The new program is called CCM Spoleto.

CCM Spoleto is open to all students from around the world.  In 2010 we are offering the experience of a lifetime to singers, instrumentalists, conductors, accompanists, and stage technicians.  Over 100 talented young people will be chosen to travel to Spoleto, Italy and participate in numerous chamber and vocal concerts, orchestral concerts and operas, interwoven with Italian language classes, coachings, lessons, and field trips.  All will converge at the home of the Festival dei due Mondi, founded by Gian Carlo Menotti and Cincinnati’s own Thomas Schippers.

CCM Spoleto in 2010, in addition to a vigorous concert calendar, will include Benjamin Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia, directed by Robin Guarino and conducted by Annunziata Tomaro.  Cast members will also receive coaching in Italian repertoire and may join their I Solisti di Spoleto colleagues in a gala concert with orchestra, conducted by Mark Gibson, at the close of festival.
