Ashley Guethlein
Ashley was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. She gained an early appreciation for the arts leading her to study Art History at Tulane University in New Orleans. Easily enamored by the city’s vibrant culture, she quickly gained a love for the unique home of jazz, gumbo, and of course, Mardi Gras. She spent her summers actively pursuing her love of the arts, including a 2005 internship in Cincinnati Opera’s development department. After Hurricane Katrina a return to New Orleans allowed her to take part in the rebuilding effort, working closely with organizations such as Katrina Krewe and Beautify Lakeview. She later worked as a research assistant for an independent exhibition under the direction of Dr. Theresa Leininger-Miller. The project focused on the life and work of 1860’s daguerreotypist and photographer James Presely Ball. Further experience includes work with the 20 Days and 20 Night Arts and Cultural Festival, Lyric Opera of Chicago, and the Carnegie Visual and Performing Arts Center. She is excited to be back in Cincinnati, thrilled to be a part of CCM, and eager to pursue a career in development.

Dana Horst
Dana came to the Arts Admin MA/MBA program from Minneapolis, MN, where she received her B.A. in theatre from the University of Minnesota. While in Minneapolis, Dana worked at the Southern Theater in front-of-house management, administration, and as an event-sales intern. Working at the Southern exposed her to world-class modern dance, as well as the unique challenges of a very small nonprofit organization. Dana hopes to work in programming, ideally in a performing venue commited to new works and experimental theatrical events with some ties to the contemporary art world, which will someday lead to an executive directorship at a mid-size arts organization. She is also commited to yoga, coffee, good wine, and reading as much Beckett as possible.

Courtney Kelly
Originally from New York, Courtney received her undergraduate degree from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, having studied musicology and actuarial science. She worked briefly at an actuarial firm on Long Island, while simultaneously gaining experience in the field of arts administration as a volunteer for Sympho, Inc., a company for which she continues to work in audience relations. Courtney has also taught high school orchestra, in addition to giving private lessons in cello, her primary instrument. As a cellist, she has performed with various youth, regional and university orchestras in North and South America as well as Africa, and has been a soloist with the Lehigh University Philharmonic. She is currently a member of the Zaria String Quartet at CCM. While in college, Courtney excelled in bicycle sales, sandwich making, and math. Additional hobbies include long distance running, salsa dancing, bassooning, baking, and reading. Following graduation, Courtney intends to fervently pursue a career in Seasonal and Trend Fiscability, utilizing the Holt-Winter's method.

Evan Marks
Originally from California, Evan has made the Midwest his adopted home, living in Michigan for the past six years. He received his undergraduate degree in saxophone performance from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and subsequently worked as a performer and teacher. Evan made the transition to arts administration after working at the Aspen Music Festival in operations and orchestra manager capacities. Evan is exicted about the opportunities offered by an arts administration masters degree from the University of Cincinnati.

Thomas James McLaughlin
Thomas is native to Cincinnati. He received his BA in Drama/Mathematics from Thomas More College in Crestview Hills Kentucky. Whenever he talks about his undergrad degrees, people always comment “an interesting combination.” As Tom was researching possible graduate programs, CCM’s focus on business and art seemed the perfect pairing. Tom has been working with Ovation Theatre Company, and is currently heavily involved with New Stage Collective. While most of his background is in production his interest in arts administration will focus on marketing and development.

Erika Niemi
Erika is originally from Northeastern Ohio, but has spent the last fourteen summers in picturesque Chautauqua, New York. She received her Bachelors Degree from Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio where she majored in English and minored in Mathematics. In September 2007, Erika completed her coursework for a Masters Degree in English Studies specializing in the Victorian Period from the University of Exeter in England for which she received Distinction. Although much of her academic work was in the English field, her love of opera and musical theatre was always present: her Masters dissertation was “Wagnerian Literature and Sexuality in Fin-de-Siècle Britain” and her undergraduate thesis was on Sweeney Todd and Elizabethan Revenge Tragedy. Erika’s love of the Arts grew due to the many opportunities through working at Chautauqua Institution. Although she started as a lunch lady five years ago, she has since worked her way up. The past two summers she was the Scheduling Coordinator and Administrator for the Voice Program run by Marlena Malas at the Chautauqua Music Festival. She also spent seven weeks interning at the Metropolitan Opera in the Artistic and Executive Departments this past summer. Erika’s interests include opera, theatre, European travel, British/period films and drinking wine.

Leslie Fay Vaeth
Leslie grew up in Milpitas, CA, a suburb of Internet start-up metropolis San Jose, in Northern California. Though she loved her hometown dearly, her wanderlust and love of urban life led her to The George Washington University in Washington, DC, where she double-majored in Music and Dramatic Literature. Because of the intimacy of both programs, she was truly able to try her hand in many aspects of the arts world – including performance, education, direction, design, and administration – with support from a myriad of wonderful faculty members. One such faculty member was the impetus behind her two and a half year internship at Chorus America, which sparked her interest in arts administration. After graduation in 2006, she returned to her family in California and began her working life as the Executive Director of the small community organization SingersMarin, where she worked in every arena – selling tickets, writing grants, website and database management, general administration and more. Her experiences there only solidified her desires to make a difference in the arts world and helped her find her way to CCM in pursuit of a master's degree in arts administration. She is thrilled to be a part of the amazing MA/MBA program alongside such wonderful and experienced classmates. In her free time, she enjoys rock climbing, board games, office products, theatre, and singing, and she is passionate about cupcakes.
