A city with a fine sense of cultural history. It was the birthplace of the poet Virgil and the artist Mantegna. It was also the refuge where Shakespeare sent Romeo into exile from Verona, and the setting for Verdi's opera Rigoletto.

Street names, signposts, and monuments around the town celebrate these links. In addition, theatrical connections are enhanced by the 18th-century Teatro Scientifico Bibiena located on Via Accademia.
