Search Update
March 31, 2008
Dear Colleagues,
I am delighted to announce that Dr. Douglas Knehans has accepted the University’s offer of appointment, and, pending Board of Trustees approval, will assume the deanship on September 1, 2008. As many of you know, Dr. Knehans will arrive with more than 17 years of experience in leadership and administrative roles. His transformative impact as Director of the Conservatorium of Music at the University of Tasmania portends extraordinarily well for CCM. I share the search committee’s view that he will bring to us an abundance of energy, dynamism, and innovation that will propel CCM toward heightened achievements, expanded visibility and greater contributions to its many disciplines and stakeholders.
Special thanks must go to the search committee ably chaired by Dean Louis Bilionis of the College of Law. We also benefited from the conscientious and thoughtful participation of Ms. Dianne Rosenberg and Mr. C Mack. Professors Terrell Finney, bruce mcclung, John Owens, Mary Stucky, and Frank Weinstock represented CCM and its interests well. You should also be proud of the contributions and participation of our students, Ms. Amanda Bower and Ms. Breighan Brown. Please extend your thanks to the committee.
Finally, let me acknowledge the strong and effective leadership of Interim Dean Warren George. Bringing many years of experience as associate dean to the task, he led CCM with great diligence, great care and great attention to its myriad challenges. Please join me expressing deepest appreciation for his critical role in this period of transition.
Anthony J. Perzigian, Senior Vice President and Provost
