Berry's research interests include Schenkerian theory and analysis, and its reception history in the U.S.; Stravinsky studies; and the analysis of American popular music ca. 1920-60s. He has delivered papers on over 20 topics at national and regional conferences an other professional meetings. Recent presentations at the Music Theory Society of New York State, the Society for Music Theory and the Schenker-Traditionen Symposium in Vienna. His publications include 14 articles and reviews in the Journal of Music Theory, Journal of the American Musicological Society, Indiana Theory Review, Journal of Musicology, Intégral and Current Musicology. He wrote A Topical Guide to Schenkerian Literature: An Annotated Bibliography with Indices for Pedragon Press. He is the editor of Theory and Practice, the journal of the Music Theory Society of New York State. Awards include a Whiting Foundation Fellowship and a Prize Teaching Fellowship at Yale University, where he was also a lecturer. |
