About Grandin

Mission

To give young artists, singers and instrumentalists, the opportunity to collaborate in a creative atmosphere and to develop and improve their chamber music skills: listening, communicating, and refining musicianship.

The Grandin Festival offers a supportive environment to explore, prepare, and perform vocal chamber repertoire of all periods and styles under the auspice of internationally renowned staff and guest artist coaches.

History

In 1996, soprano Barbara Honn and oboist Sarah Bloom co-founded the Grandin Festival, because they recognized the need to create an opportunity for the collaboration of singers and instrumentalists to perform the treasures of vocal chamber music.

Over the past eleven years, the festival welcomed renowned guest artists including: John Ayler, Amy Burton, Ruth Dobson, David Gordon, Ricky Ian Gordon, Jake Heggie, Lee Hoiby, Warren Jones, Jane Manning, John Musto, Charles Neidich, Patrice Pastore, Rudolf Piernay, Lucy Shelton, Thomas Toscano, and Brian Zeger.

Since its inception, the Grandin Festival participants, 70-80 students yearly, have presented over 70 concerts spanning 230 works from all musical periods and styles.
