1. Repertoire--Masterworks Classics Level 5 or equivalent. Does not have
to be memorized.
2. Scales and arpeggios--2 octaves, hands together. White key majors and (natural,
harmonic, melodic) minors. Black key majors and (natural/harmonic) minors.
3. Sight-reading--comparable in difficulty to Masterworks Classics level 3
4a. Vocal only. Score reading--48-hour advance practice. 4 part vocal or 3 part
instrumental score with 1 transposing instrumental line.
4b. Instrumental only. Sightread a single line melody for Bb, Eb, and F instruments.

1. REPERTOIRE--both from 20th-21st century literature. Play 2 prepared
pieces, one from memory, of the level of the 2nd movement from Ravel's
Sonatine. The student's study materials should be selected from the works
of prominent 20th century composers such as Bartók, Schoenberg,
Ravel, etc.
2. Clef reading (48 hour preparation). Play all parts simultaneously.
In open score (using soprano, alto and tenor clefs). Do not write in score. Practice
Bach "Chorales" as preparation
3. Sight-reading
Play at sight an instrumental line from a contemporary score such as Stravinsky's
Threni. Concert pitch given. Score will be disjunct and rhythmically complex. |

accompaniment for a song selected from basic series, grades 1-8. Do
not write in.
