Kenneth Griffiths earned a B.A. and Diploma of Education from the University
of Melbourne, Australia, and received the M.M. degree from the University of
Tennessee. He studied piano in Australia and Europe (London and Munich), and
accompanying with Gerhard Hüsch (Munich, Indiana University).
Before arriving in Cincinnati, Professor Griffiths taught at Indiana University
and the University of Tennessee. He has given numerous masterclasses throughout
the United States and Australia, and has accompanied professional recitals
in Australia, the United States, Japan, England, Germany, Russia and Australia
for such artists as Kathleen Battle, Susan Dunn, John Garrison, Ben Matthews,
Susanne Mentzer, Jessye Norman, Stanford Olsen, David Shifrin, Benita Valente,
Sarah Walker and Delores Ziegler.
Mr. Griffiths has appeared as concert narrator in Schoenberg's Ode to Napoleon
with the Arditti, LaSalle, and Vermeer Quartets, and with pianists Peter
Serkin and Stefan Litwin in Stony Brook, New York, Cincinnati, Chicago, and
Basel.
He has appeared at the Ravinia and Salzburg Festivals, and is also featured
on the Deutsche Gramophone recording of the same work with the LaSalle Quartet.
Since 1992, Professor Griffiths has been on the faculty of the Tanglewood
Music Festival vocal/accompanying program where he teaches master classes,
a "Russian
For Singers" class, and prepares recital and chamber music ensembles.
Mr. Griffiths has been a member of the College-Conservatory of Music faculty
since 1982.
