A band student receives instruction from a student intern.

Music Teaching Internships — at both the undergraduate and graduate levels — are arranged by faculty on an individual basis for music education students who have specialized interest in and/or need for practical experience beyond what is available in the required curricular program. Settings in which students intern include traditional preK-12 school programs as well as university and community programs.

Internships held by students during the current school year include:

CCM Children's Choir

CCM Prep Brass Choir

CCM Prep Jazz Explosion

Cincinnati Junior Strings

Junior Cincinnati Youth Wind Ensemble

Elementary general music in an area public school

UC Athletic Band Program

Professional arts organizations

This practical experience, undertaken with the mentorship of experienced teachers and the guidance of Music Education faculty, strengthens the students' professional preparation and serves them well in light of future employment. These internships are in addition to the practicum undertaken within the methods courses and the supervised teaching experience of Graduate Teaching Assistants.
