Leah Branstetter
Music History
Leah Branstetter is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music,
where she studied cello performance with Yehuda Hanani. A recipient of the CCM Honors Scholarship,
she received her bachelor of music degree summa cum laude in June of 2006.
As an orchestral musician, Ms. Branstetter has served as principal cellist
of the CCM Concert Orchestra, the CCM Contemporary Music Ensemble, and the
Brevard Music Center Opera Orchestra. She has also played with the Springfield
Symphony and the Opera Theatre and Music Festival of Lucca Orchestra. She was
the recipient of a Repertory Training Fellowship at the Brevard Music Center,
and has performed with such renowned conductors as Keith Lockhart, Kenneth Schermerhorn,
Bright Sheng, David Effron, and Xian Zhang.
Ms. Branstetter is also active as a chamber musician. She has recently performed
with ensembles in the greater Cincinnati region; in Lucca, Italy; and on the Chamber
Music Connection's Conservatory Series in Columbus, Ohio. She studied chamber music
performance with Lee Fiser at CCM, and has performed in master classes for the Cavani
String Quartet, Donald Weilerstein, David Salness, and Wilfried Strehle of the Berlin
Philharmonic. She is also a faculty member for the Chamber Music Connection, where she
works with young ensembles on a regular basis.
Ms. Branstetter is currently pursuing a master's degree in music history at the
University of Cincinnati, where she is also serving as a teaching assistant. Her
primary research interests include American music, film music, and contemporary opera.
