Christopher Philpotts
Oboe

Christopher Philpotts is Principal English hornist in the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. He has been performing in classical and jazz ensembles in this area for enough years to have experienced music making with most of the top musicians around. Prior to his symphony appointment Chris played Principal Oboe in Cincinnati Ballet Orchestra and English horn in Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra. He has been featured soloist in Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra and Dayton Philharmonic several times. In addition to his oboe and English horn work, he plays various recorders and flutes, guitar and Ewi, his electronic windblown instrument. Chris has composed and arranged for various ensembles in which he has performed including Ekimi, Ictus and Arion Consort. He has taught high school and college aged oboe students in this area for many years and has run workshops for oboe-reed making at Oberlin, Hartt College, Suny Purchase and Interlochen in the studios of Jim Caldwell, Burt Lucarelli and Dan Stolper.
