Competitions
The Accent09 competitions represent both a challenge and an opportunity for
public recognition. All students are encouraged to compete.
Accent09 Chamber Music Competition
The Accent09 Chamber Music Competition is only open to participants in Accent09,
and will take place on Friday, June 19th, 2009, at 1:00-3:30 pm in the master classroom 3250.
This competition is open to the public. A maximum of 12 groups will be allowed to compete.
There are two separate categories: junior (pre-college), and senior (college and above).
Mixed ensembles can choose to apply for either category if the average of
their ages does not reach 18. Mixed ensembles with an average age of 18 and above
should apply for the senior category.
Applications will be accepted on Thursday June 18, 2009 on a first come-first serve basis.
Applicants need their Accent09 coach approval. The application fee for the
Accent09 Chamber Music Competition is $10 per individual participant.
Ensembles can enter with one or more movements, up to a maximum of 15 minutes of music.

full merit scholarship for Accent09, and solo performance at CCM in the Cohen Family Studio Theater
on Saturday June 20, 2009 at 7:00 pm with one of the Accent09 orchestras.
2nd prize: not awarded.
3rd prize: Rafaela Copetti, viola
$200 merit scholarship for Accent09, and special mention in the program of the final concert.
Junior Category
1st prize: Caroline Wong, flute AND Jacqueline Kitzmiller, violin
$200 merit scholarship for Accent09, and solo performance at CCM in the Cohen Family Studio Theater
on Saturday June 20, 2009 at 7:00 pm with one of the Accent09 orchestras.
2nd prize: not awarded.
3rd prize: not awarded.
Honorary Grand Prize
The jury has also awarded Caroline Wong a honorary Accent09 Solo Competition Grand Prize
in recognition of her outstanding performance.
