June 14-20, 2009

Crescend09, the young musicians division of A09, is is a chamber music festival open to high school and middle school students proficent in woodwind instruments, brass instruments, stringed instruments, piano, percussion, voice or composition.

Ensemble activities are supported by daily private lessons and classes. Groups and classes are arranged by level as well as by age. We welcome pre-formed ensembles.

This one-week intensive program is opened by a faculty concert, and showcases its participants with concerts at the end of the week. Crescend09 shares faculty with Accent09.

Application

Application deadline: April 30, 2009 or until spaces are filled.

Each application package must include:
1. Completed application form (requires Adobe Acrobat Reader)
2-a. (PERFORMERS) CD or DVD, or scheduled live audition
2-b. (COMPOSERS) Score of a recent composition for small ensemble. Include a recording if available.
3. Non refundable application fee.

Audition requirements

One scale of choice, two short pieces or movements of contrasting styles (one can be an etude). Recorded audition accepted on CD and DVD only. To schedule a live audition or for further information contact Dorotea Vismara Hoffman at Dorotea.Hoffman@uc.edu.

Apply early and save on your participation fee

Early applicants (applications received by February 28, 2009) will be admitted on a rolling basis beginning February 1, 2009. Acceptances will be notified starting February 15, 2009. If accepted, postmark your payment by March 10, and pay the reduced participation fee: $450.

Limited scholarship funds are available and will be awarded on the basis of need/merit.
