Musical Theater: Dance

The dance program encompasses musical theater dance and tap classes. The musical theater dance classes involve the student in all elements of musical theater dance at the appropriate level.

Musical Theater Dance uses popular and Broadway music to teach students basic skills. Classes consist of warm-ups, floor and travel exercises, and a combination. Participation in a ballet program is required for this class. Focus is on body placement and good technique in basic kicks, turns and leaps. Barre work to ensure good body placement is part of the class. A strong emphasis on technique and style is expected in the advanced class.

Dance Requirements: All students taking a musical theater dance class are required to take ballet classes. Please look at the ballet schedule on page to find the appropriate class. You may take ballet at another studio with approval from the Prep dance instructor.
