Acting for the Stage

New students should enroll by age, unless audition is required. All acting classes explore the basic techniques of becoming an actor: improvisation, character development, and scene work.

  • Advanced Stage Combat  Cost: $190  Saturday, 12pm (Founded upon the safety techniques developed by the Society of American Fight Directors, Acting the Stage Fight teaches students how to become safe Actor/Combatants capable of creating the illusion of violence on stage as often required in classical and contemporary theater.)

Musical Theater: Dance

The dance program encompasses musical theater dance and tap classes. The musical theater dance classes involve the student in all elements of musical theater dance at the appropriate level. Musical Theater Dance uses popular and Broadway music to teach students basic skills. Classes consist of warm-ups, floor and travel exercises, and acombination.Participation in a ballet program is required for this class.

Dance Requirements: All students taking a musical theater dance class are required to take ballet classes. Please look at the ballet schedule on page to find the appropriate class. You may take ballet at another studio with approval from the Prep dance instructor.

  • Beginning Musical Theater Dance — Ages 9 to 12 Cost $190 Saturday, 12pm
  • Beginning Musical Theater Dance Ages 13 and up Cost $225 Saturday, 10am – 11:30am
  • Intermediate Musical Theater Dance – (audition required) Cost: $225 9-12 years old - Saturday, 11:30 am – 1:00 pm 13 years and up – Saturday, 10am – 11:30am
  • Advanced Musical Theater Dance (audition required) Cost: $225 Saturdays, 10am-11:30am
  • Tap — Ages 9–adult Cost: $150

    This class offers tap technique, combinations and basic routines to the adult or younger student. Permission of the instructor is necessary to enroll in Intermediate or Advanced levels.

    Stretch and Strengthening Conditioning Class – New! Cost: $150 Saturdays 9am

    Designed for parents, teachers, and high school students, this class provides a gentle, yet refreshing way to start your day! Cost: $150 a semester or drop-in when you can and pay $12 per class!

    Musical Theater: Voice Cost: $190

    Voice classes are an essential part of a comprehensive program in musical theater. Focusing on a basic knowledge of proper and healthy vocal techniques, students will sing repertoire from American musical theater that is appropriate for his/her age.

    • Musical Theater at the Wyoming Fine Arts Center — Ages 8–14 two – 15 week courses Cost: $225

      Fall Semester Thursday September 14 – January 18 (no class 11/23, 12/14, 12/21, 12/28)

      Spring semester Thursday February 1 – May 17 (no class 4/05/07)

      Each week students will have 30 minutes each of voice, drama and dance class, taught by CCM Prep faculty. Students will be divided by age and ability, particularly dancing technique. At the end of the 15 week course, there will be a performance for families and friends. Students in this program will be eligible to audition for the Winter prep musical and will follow similar curriculum goals of the Saturday program. Dress, materials and a simple audition will be provided at the first class.

      Certificate Programs in Acting and Musical Theater

      Available for High School students interested in Acting, this two-year certificate program offers a three-hour core curriculum each Saturday afternoon designed to hone the actor’s craft. Students will gain confidence, experience and a practical foundation for both future work and studies. They will develop skills and processes essential for their work on stage, and take a variety of courses including Shakespeare, Characterization, Improvisation, Scene Work, Collegiate and Professional Audition Technique, and Meisner Technique.

      High School Musical Theater Intensive

      The Musical Theater Intensive program is for students who display a strong interest and passion for musical theater, along with a demonstrated ability in musical theater voice, acting, and/or dance. Students attend classes on Saturdays in vocal performance, acting and the appropriate dance class. Audition required.

      Drama Production

      Each year the CCM Prep drama program produces a musical in March, open to all registered prep drama students 8–14 years old. Complete information on this year’s production will be available in September.
