Private Lessons

Private lessons are at the core of traditional music instruction. Students meet with a private instructor for 30, 45 or 60 minutes weekly. Our faculty are highly trained with experience in teaching students and have a wide variety of backgrounds. 70% of our faculty either teach at, are advanced students at, or graduated from CCM. Many of our faculty are prominent musicians in the area performing with professional orchestras, leading choirs, featured as soloists and touring. Lessons are offered in all orchestral instruments, keyboard, jazz piano, saxophone and voice. For complete policies and further information regarding this program please click here.

Performance Opportunities

Students are encouraged to perform on general and studio recitals as well as participate in CCM Prep ensembles and chamber music opportunities. The Prep Department also sponsors scholarship and performance competitions for private music students. The annual CCM Preparatory Piano Competition takes place in February.

Master Classes

Students can participate in master classes taught by outstanding performing artists/teachers of the Collegiate program and the wider professional artistic community.

Certificate Program

Excellence, achievement, motivation, performance, and recognition. Participation in outside evaluations through the RACE (Royal American Conservatory Examinations) or RCM (Royal Conservatory of Music) program will assure students and parents that they are receiving the highest quality of teaching. We are proud to support students in achieving certification through these nationally recognized assessment programs. For further information on how you can participate in this, please contact your private instructor. Piano students also have the option to participate in the certificate program offered by CCM Prep. Please contact the Music Registrar to receive further information about the RACE program.
