Winds, Percussion, and Brass

Wind and Percussion Curriculum
CCM Prep offers lessons for all ages and abilities. There is a Suzuki flute option for young beginners. All of the faculty are both experienced teachers and performers. Students who study through the wind and percussion division follow a curriculum developed by the CCM Prep faculty. Students are evaluated each semester and are encouraged to perform on department and studio recitals.
Wind and percussion students are encouraged to audition for and to participate in the Cincinati Jr. Youth Wind Ensemble (Jr. CYWE), Cincinnati Youth Wind Ensemble (CYWE), and the Accent Chamber Music Program (ACMP), as well as theory classes, to augment their musical studies.

Community Division: Beginners
Most students in the wind and percussion division start their private studies later than string and piano students, generally beginning during the middle school years. CCM Prep offers a Suzuki flute program where students can begin at an earlier age. Beginners of all ages are encouraged to participate in departmental recitals and the Achievement Festival with the support of their studio instructor.

Preparatory Division: Upper level
Students who are serious about their instrument are encouraged to enroll in the preparatory certificate program as described in the opening section of the music curriculum.
