Applied Music Study
Applied Music Study for High School Credit:
High School students enrolled in private music study may apply for high
school credit. Discuss with your principal or school guidance counselor
the option of fulfilling a fine arts credit based on outside studies.
For further information, please contact the Director of the Preparatory
Department, Amy Dennison at 556-9466.
You should also be aware of the Early Enrollment Option (PSEO) offered
to high school students for entrance to the University of Cincinnati.
Please check with your guidance counselor for further information.
Applied Music Study for University Credit:
Non-music majors enrolled at UC may elect applied music study to fulfill
an elective requirement. The special application form is available at
the Preparatory Department office. Applicants must be approved by their
respective College, whereupon the Preparatory Department enrolls the student
for 10 private half-hour lessons in an instrument or voice per quarter
for three consecutive quarters, Fall through Spring. Students pay the
Preparatory fess, but not an additional registration fee. This payment
is separate from the Universitys students remaining academic
fees.
Application for admission is available only during the Fall Quarter and
studies must be continuous for the entire academic year, or credit will
not be received. Upon satisfactory completion by examination at the end
of the Spring Quarter, certification will be made to the students
home college. That university thereafter may grant advanced standing to
the student for three credits, either graduate or undergraduate, as appropriate.
For further information, please contact the Preparatory Department office.
