CCM Student Organizations
Student Government
The Undergraduate Tribunal and the
Graduate Student Association are the university's student governing
bodies which coordinate campus activities, interpret student opinion and foster
closer cooperation and understanding among students, faculty and
administration. CCM is actively represented with both organizations.
Ohio Collegiate Music Education
Association
The Ohio Collegiate Music Education Association provides its members with
opportunities for professional development, acquaints students with the
privileges and responsibilities of music education, provides opportunities to
become acquainted with leadership in the music education profession as gained
from participation in programs and demonstrations, and assists the school in
various projects throughout the year.
International Radio and
Television Society-AERho
The International Radio and Television Society-AERho is an organization
designed to offer electronic media students opportunities to interact outside
of classes, to meet and talk with industry professionals and to take part in
technical productions with fellow students. The organization is open to all
electronic media majors.
Professional Fraternities
CCM has a chapter of the national professional co-educational music fraternity
Mu Phi Epsilon (Alpha-Alpha Chapter); and three national professional music
sororities: Delta Omicron (Alpha Chapter), Phi Beta (Delta Chapter) and
Sigma Alpha Iota (Eta-Iota Chapter). In addition, the national honorary
sorority for college band members is Tau Beta Sigma (Theta Chapter) and the
fraternity is Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia (Eta-Omicron Chapter), and the national
honorary fraternity for college band members is represented by the
Kappa Kappa Psi (Upsilon Chapter)
Pi Kappa Lambda
Pi Kappa Lambda (Pi Chapter) is the national society for the recognition of
outstanding achievement in music. Members are selected from the junior and
senior classes and the Division of Graduate Studies who excel in their
respective musical fields according to the bylaws of the society. A certificate
of honor is awarded to those freshmen and sophomores each year who excel in
musical and scholastic achievement.
UC Bearcat Bands
The Bearcat Bands offer all students, regardless of major, the chance to
further their participation at the collegiate level. Organized through the
University's Athletics Department, the bands take various forms depending on
the academic quarter. In the fall, the band's time and energy is solely
dedicated to the Marching Band. In winter, the Varsity Band (or Pep Band)
supports University basketball games, while auxiliary groups such as Winter
Drumline and Winter Guard also begin. In spring, the Concert Band takes center
stage, along with the Jazz Band. Auxiliary groups continue in the spring as
well.
University of Cincinnati Symphony
Orchestra
The UC Symphony Orchestra is a campus orchestra, open to all students
regardless of major. Optional small ensembles, various community service
events, and social events are offered throughout the year.
