Wind Studies Summer 2009

The 14th International WASBE Conference

The College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati is priviledged to host the 14th International World Association of Symphonic Bands and Ensembles (WASBE) Conference on July 5-11, 2009.

"As host, it is my distinct honor to welcome you to Cincinnati and the College-Conservatory of Music. We are excited about hosting WASBE during the summer of 2009 and urge all of you to mark July 5-11 on your professional calendars. The world's finest ensembles, conductor's and clinicians will be gathered together for seven days of incredible music making and inspiration. Add to this the professional facilities at CCM, the natural beauty of Cincinnati and a dedicated group of conference specialists, and you have the makings for what is sure to be a 'can't miss' event!" --- Rodney Winther

As such, the annual CCM Wind Conducting Workshop has been been cancelled for the summer of 2009.

The Conducting Workshop July 22-25, 2008

Rodney Winther, CCM

CCM Summer Wind Symphony

This workshop is designed to address the need of today’s public school conductor/educator. Whether you are a seasoned veteran or just finishing your first year of teaching, this workshop is for you.

Participants should bring to the workshop three recently conducted works, regardless of the degree of difficulty. The lab ensemble will be composed of workshop participants who will be joined by members of the renowned CCM Wind Symphony.

Each conducting opportunity will be videotaped, followed by one-on-one critique sessions.

Special emphasis will be placed on score preparation and analysis, left and right hand interaction, mixed meter and accompanimental conducting, and rehearsal techniques.
