Featured Thinking About Music Virtual Lecture

This virtual installment of CCM's Thinking About Music Series features a lecture by Michael Haas, a multiple Grammy Award-winning recording producer also known for his recovery of music lost during the Third Reich. The title of Haas' talk is “Hans or Hanuš: Winterberg’s Complex Tangles with the 20th Century.”

CCM Summer presents Film Scoring Summit for high school students

Do you have a favorite film music theme? Have you ever wondered how film scores come to life? Discover the art of film scoring during the one-day Film Scoring Summit at UC's College-Conservatory of Music (CCM). Led by Professor Jasmine Guo, the Film Scoring Summit is a free event for rising 10th-12th grade students. Participants will delve into the magic of music in film, experiment with scoring and learn about CCM's Commercial Music Production (CMP) program. The Summit ends with a tour of CCM's recording studios and a Q&A session with faculty.

March 6 Life of the Mind lecture to once again address the topic of "Next"

Life of the Mind, interdisciplinary conversations with UC faculty, will return Wednesday, March 6, 2019 from 2:30-4:30pm, in TUC 400B with a lecture by Stephen Meyer, professor of musicology in the College-Conservatory of Music. Professor Meyer will speak on “Beyond Decanonization: The Future of Humanities in the Neoliberal University.”

CCM hosts guest lecture on music for brain health on March 31

Each semester, CCM welcomes distinguished experts for a series of musical discussions and lectures that are open to the general public and free to attend. This semester's Joseph and Frances Jones Poetker Thinking About Music Lecture Series continues at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, March 31, with a presentation by Psyche Loui, PhD, an Associate Professor from Northeastern University College of Arts, Media and Design. The title of Loui's talk is "Generating New Predictions: New Directions in Music for Brain Health." The lecture will be presented in the Baur Room of CCM's Corbett Center for the Performing Arts.
