Lincoln Chapman Young Artist Program (LCYAP)

The Lincoln Chapman Young Artist Program (LCYAP) is Cincinnati’s premier youth apprentice program designed for exceptional vocal performers between 14 and 19 years of age.

One of the only high school opera programs in the country, LCYAP is designed to develop and enhance young vocal performers through movement, musical preparation and dramatic interpretation in a small ensemble setting. The program begins in October and concludes with an annual Showcase in Spring semester.

After 25 years of being taught exclusively through the Musical Arts Center, LCYAP is moving to CCM! We are excited for this partnership, which will allow us to continue this wonderful program under Brian Robertson, CCM visiting professor of opera.

Please note that registration is for a full academic year commitment

Audition Preparation

The LCYAP experience involves much more than singing. Participants will be expected to physically engage in staging, develop characters, and bring a theatrical story to life. The reading portion of the audition gives us an opportunity to see you as a complete performer.

Vocal Selection

Please prepare one complete vocal piece—classical or musical theatre—that showcases your talent and artistry. You may sing the entire selection, although the audition panel may stop you once they have heard enough to make an assessment.

Cold Reading

You will also be given sides to read at the audition. No advance preparation is necessary for the reading.Replace with your text

The CCM Prep Music Ensembles are committed to maintaining the highest standards of musical excellence. The Ensembles function to

  • Provide members with a source of lifelong personal growth via opportunities to assess their skills and strengths, reflect on their achievements and progress, and prioritize their areas for improvement
